    -Emmanuel

    LEARN TO:

    ... sew from A-Z

Take courses 1-4 in order, or jump around depending on your skill level.

Each session is 60€/3h and can be taken once a week, or all in one week depending on availability.

    ... sew advanced techniques

Courses 5-8 are for more experienced sewists who'd like to take their projects to the next level.

Four available courses 60€/3h sessions, can be mixed and matched according to your learning and project needs.

    1. INTRODUCTION TO SEWING

In this course, you will define your sewing project, desires, and needs according to your skill level. We will learn to choose suitable materials for your project and learn how to use a sewing machine. Never learned to thread a machine? or to make a bobbin? No problem! Once we learn the basics, we will practice stitching and setting the right tension on a sewing machine. At the end of this session, you will be comfortable sewing straight and curved lines, and how to properly start a stitch so that your project doesn't fall apart.

    Objectives:

    - Clearly define your project

    - Define a step by step plan

    - Identify a supply list

    - Understand the different parts of a machine and to learn how to thread a machine.

    2. FORM & PATTERN MAKING

In session two, we will learn how to take body measurements, how to adapt modifications to a basic pattern based on those measurements, how to plan your project cutting and sewing step by step, and what sewing allowance is good for. At the end of this course, you will be able to say you can read a pattern and know how to go from flat 2-dimensional paper shapes to 3-dimensional worn clothing.

    Objectives:

    - Take measurements correctly

    - Understand a pattern

    - Pattern modification

    - Set up a pattern for cutting

    3. PLACEMENT AND CUTTING

In session 3, we will continue learning about fabric. What is the straight grain of the material? You will learn to identify the front and back of your fabric and pattern markings & notes. We will go over how to best place your pattern pieces to waste less, how to cut your pieces, and finally how to figure out what supplies, tips, and tricks you'll need to start sewing!

    Objectives:

    - Understand straight grain
    - Cut Fabric
    - Set up a machine with your personal configuration
    - Test sewing  and test garment

    4. ASSEMBLY AND FINISHING

In the final session, you will clearly define your assembly plan. Start sewing and plan out the finishing touches. This may sound too little, but in fact, finishing a garment is the most time-consuming part! It's what differentiates a novice from an expert! We will go over quality control and modification of the final garment for fitting.

    Objectives:

    - Define assembly plan

    - Completely assemble a garment

    - Quality control and finish

    5. DECONSTRUCTION

What can I reuse? Where do I start? This is a reverse garment construction class in which you will learn how to carefully deconstruct your clothing in order to maximize the use of extracted materials.
    Bring your own garment.

This is a good preparatory class for the 6. Pattern Extraction

    Objectives:

Deconstructing a garment for maximum material reuse.

    6. PATTERN EXTRACTION

Extract a pattern from an existing garment without destroying or seam ripping. This will help you recreate your favorite garment from scratch (almost) multiple times.

You can pair this class with 2. Form & Pattern Making or with 7. Finishing & Modification

    Objectives:

    Copy an existing garment

    7. FINISHING & MODIFICATION

There are many ways we can modify existing garments or combine two garments to make a new one. In this course, we will learn tips and tricks to modify boring clothing into pieces you love! This course is also for those wanting to learn how to modify clothing to fit them better.

    Objectives:

Learn different finishing techniques, hemming and stitches for different materials.

    8. BYO PROJECT

It depends on the project! Get in contact <3

The projects must be textile based, however, the sky is the limit, get in contact and we can figure out the right way to tackle the project together.

    Objectives:

Finish a project you've started or a project you have in a pile waiting for you.
